Free UK Car History Check – Internet Secrets

There seem to be a lot of adverts on TV for checking a used car’s history before you buy.

If you are simply browsing Autotrader or other used car websites / magazines you may wish to be able to check a few details without having to pay £3, £5, or even up to £30 straight away…

So here we are going to use the internet to our advantage.

For these websites below all you need is the registration number of the vehicle – they all tell you a few basic things but here I am telling you what they can tell you which is unique to each website.

Your local police should be able to help you in making sure that the vehicle you are looking at isn’t stolen too which is also helpful. All that really leaves is whether it has been written off and repaired at all….

I have not found a way to check everything for free mainly whether it has been written off (Cat C or D) and if it is stolen or not.

iMessage Fails to Send

Since iMessage was brought out last year (2011) I have been gladly using it as it means that I no longer need to rely on Apps like Whatsapp or Liveprofile to share photos and videos over WiFi.

But there is one major problem – sometimes it will go to send with the loading/sending bar going right up to just before the end (say 90%) and then it will just stay there for a few minutes, then just fail!

I know it is supposed to send via SMS if it doesn’t work and the contacts I’m sending it to do have SMS’able mobile numbers but it doesn’t tell me it is doing this. So I keep trying to send it and although it says ‘failed’ sometimes the recipients DO get the message…

This is just really annoying and I would like to know a fix!

Barclays Mobile Banking App – Pingit

 

Finally for all the people banking with Barclays the wait is over! You can now check your account balance via their new app which can be found on the App Store for iPhones as well as Blackberry and Android users!

Personally I have been banking with NatWest since they were previously the only bank with a decent App for my iPhone but now I can make a judgement to move to a (better?) different bank!

I was worried that there would be some lengthy registering / signup process but thankfully it wasn’t too bad. Ideally you will need your bank card showing your sort code / account number, your mobile phone number and your “pinsentry” calculator looking thing that they insist you use nowadays!?

Their idea is so that people can easily transfer money to others using just mobiles for instances such as splitting a dinner bill…

For me it will simply be the first step towards checking my account balance at an ATM – something that should have been done a long time ago!
