Turtle Beach Earforce DSS Surround Sound

December 28, 2011 Leave a comment

So I now own a Turtle Beach Earforce DSS which I am using to play COD for the best surround sound action you can get.

This turns my stereo Turtle Beach P11 headset / headphones into 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound giving me that extra edge online and offline.

Turtle Beach Earforce DSS Surround Sound Unboxing for use with PS3 Xbox PC, Laptops and Mac. The processor turns stereo sound into realistic 5.1 or 7.1 (Depending on software / media output) dolby digital surround sound.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Secretive Prices – No Store Dares to Reveal

Just hours away from the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 I try to ring around the shops / stores that will be opening at midnight to enable the public to purchase the game in the first few minutes of it’s release.

Price checks now been updated! Please see update notes at the bottom!

This article is in response to this video!

Last year for Call of Duty: Black Ops all it took was one simple phone call to five different places. All could tell me how much the new game would cost when the clock struck 12 but with Modern Warfare 3 it seems to be very different for some reason…!?!?

The RRP (recommended retail price) of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game for PS3 and Xbox on release is £44.99 but for the past two releases of the Call of Duty franchise we have seen a lot better deals if you shop around.

What the stores had to say…

Game (aka Gamestation) could only tell me a ‘guide’ price being the RRP £44.99 and said that the price would not be definate until midnight.

HMV could also only tell me the RRP as a guide price however said to phone again just before the store usually closes at 5:30pm as they should know by then, but the price may still change up until around 11pm depending on competitors prices. He also mentioned that BF3 (Battlefield 3) that was released last week had an RRP of £39.99 and by the midnight opening ended up at £37.99 and said that he expected MW3 to end up around £42.99 by midnight tonight.

When I phoned Blockbuster I would like to mention I was greeted by a ‘jobsworth’ employee. He stated the RRP and after I asked if the price was likely to drop nearer release he replied ‘How long is a piece of string’ in a smarmy undertone which I was not impressed with.

Tesco and Sainsbury’s both would not officially state a price however, the guy I was speaking to from Sainsbury’s did start off by saying that it would work out cheaper if you spent £30 grocery shopping at the same time – as was the case last year. He also said he thought he heard someone mention it would be around £28.00 but when he went to confirm with a manager his story suddenly changed to a simple ‘Sorry we can’t release any price information’.

The whole situation seems to suggest that all competitors are trying to almost not compete and ‘even out’ the customers so that every company gets a fair share of the COD profit pie this year…

So far I am leaning towards going to Sainsbury’s at midnight as this is where i saved around £20 compared to RRP with Black Ops last year and the vague hints still seem viable. However I still yet have to phone back HMV at 5:30pm and the supermarkets again at around 11pm to make sure.

UPDATE 4pm GMT
Tesco have announced that Modern Warfare 3 will be sold for £25 when bought with selected PSN (PlayStation Network) / 4200 Microsoft Points! However this works out that you will have to pay £60 in total for Xbox but you do get points ready for future DLC (downloadable content aka map packs).
If you got Saturday’s The Sun newspaper there was an extra £5 off bringing the Xbox total down to £55. The PSN credit amount to make you eligible for the deal is £35.

UPDATE 5pm GMT

Further internet rumours suggest Sainsbury’s should be selling the game for £28.99 when you spend £30 or more on groceries.
